2ic Pallets Wins Again at iAwards for e-Logistics and Supply Chain
Sunday, 31 May 2009

2ic Software now moves on to represent Australia internationally after winning the national iAward in the e-Logistics and Supply Chain category with 2ic Pallets, its leading product. The company was already a winner at the South Australia State level.

The Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) presents the iAwards each year in 16 categories to showcase and propel Australia's next national and global technology success stories. The iAwards are recognized as Australia's leading ICT industry awards. CEO Andrew Whittam accepted the award on behalf of 2ic Software. His comments can be viewed on youtube here.

Award-winning 2ic Pallets is a software tool offering an innovative, cost-effective solution to the widespread problem of pallet loss within the transport & logistics industry. The system focuses on streamlining the management process to prevent equipment losses and the potentially enormous costs associated with these losses.

2ic Pallets interfaces with CHEP and other major equipment suppliers, and with warehouse and transport management systems to act as ‘middleware’ between these systems and the pallet companies.

In addition, 2ic Pallets generates a two-dimensional barcode that enables automated information flow between different companies via paper dockets (bills of lading). “Although a paperless system is ideal,” commented Mr. Whittam at the iAwards, “the reality is a receiving docks still use signed paperwork as proof of delivery, and with the 2D barcodes we can automate the data capture while still using paper."

Since its launch in 2002, 2ic Pallets has been adopted by approximately half of Australia’s major transport & logistics players, including Coca Cola, Toll, DHL, Linfox, IGA and Woolworths. 2ic Pallets interfaces with and tracks equipment owned by most major pallet companies, such as CHEP, Loscam, IPP Logipal, LPR and Canadian Pallet Council. 2ic Pallets also manages ‘customer own’ equipment, for example roll cages owned by Woolworths.

The 2ic Pallets solution has been comprehensively proven in Australia with the focus now on repeating this success overseas.

Following its success at the national awards, 2ic Software will now represent Australia at the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards in December.
